Overview
Kampala is Corpshore's Ugandan delivery hub and, with Nairobi, a center for Swahili speech and East African language data. The owned facility runs full-time teams covering English, Swahili, Luganda, and Runyankole. Uganda's very young population and English-medium education give the hub a large, language-capable base for annotation and speech capture.
Teams here focus on Swahili text-to-speech and speech-recognition datasets, general annotation, and field collection. Swahili is a widely spoken regional language with historically thin high-quality training data, so in-region native capture materially improves dataset quality over remote alternatives.
All output runs through Corpshore's three-tier QA cascade with local review, which keeps Swahili and Luganda judgments with native speakers rather than distant reviewers.

Why Corpshore operates here
Native Swahili and Luganda coverage for speech and annotation programs.
One of the world's youngest populations, supplying a large entry workforce.
English-medium education that makes task instructions and management straightforward.
Complementary East African capacity alongside the Nairobi hub.
UTC+3 alignment with Corpshore's other East African and MENA sites.
Talent pool
Uganda has one of the youngest median ages in the world and educates in English, which produces a large, growing pool of entry-level contributors comfortable with English instructions. Native Swahili, Luganda, and Runyankole speakers make the hub well suited to East African speech and text work.
Because Swahili spans several countries and variants, Kampala's contributors add regional breadth to Corpshore's Swahili datasets when combined with the Nairobi teams.
Specializations
Swahili speech and TTS: scripted and spontaneous capture, transcription, and review.
Annotation across text and image tasks in English and local languages.
Field collection of real-world audio and imagery across Ugandan contexts.
Luganda and Runyankole language tasks for broader East African coverage.
Data residency and compliance
GDPR-aligned DPA
Kampala operates under a GDPR-aligned data processing agreement, applying the network's standard access controls and in-region review so East African language work meets the same handling terms as European delivery.
Timezone coverage
At UTC+3, Kampala aligns with Nairobi and Istanbul, overlaps the European working day, and reaches into the Asian morning, extending Corpshore's follow-the-sun coverage through the East African and MENA band.
Why this location works for AI data
In-region Swahili capture improves dataset quality where remote data is historically thin.
An extremely young population gives fast access to a large entry-level workforce.
